Scott Koop Biography

Mr. Koop joined Kishner Miller Himes as an associate in March 2012. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Koop worked as an associate with a busy general practice firm in Brooklyn, and later at a firm specializing in commercial litigation based in mid-town Manhattan.

Throughout his career, Mr. Koop has been involved in a wide array of transactional matters and complex litigation, both in New York and New Jersey.

Currently, Mr. Koop concentrates on civil litigation, particularly in complex business and commercial disputes as well as real-estate centered litigation.

Mr. Koop also focuses on residential and commercial real estate transactions.  Typically, he represents buyers, sellers, lenders, borrowers, landlords and tenants in property purchases, sales, leasing and financing.  His practice has involved real property transactions throughout New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Koop handles litigation from beginning to end, including extensive motion practice, trial and appeal. While he has represented large companies in complex commercial litigation, Mr. Koop focuses much of his practice on representing individuals and small companies in either the prosecution or defense of contractual and other business disputes. His real estate transactional work complements his litigation practice. In particular, Mr. Koop’s transactional experience enables him to understand the practical consequences of real-estate related litigation, which often involves contentious claims concerning neighbors, condominium/cooperative boards, construction companies and general contractors, and property owners and developers.  The insight gained from his extensive real estate experience helps Mr. Koop litigate for his clients efficiently and effectively.
